The Pawhuska Huskies defeated the Preston Pirates by a final tally of 55-45 in Thursday night’s opening round matchup of the Mike Kerr Classic taking place in Morrison. Things weren’t nearly that easy, however as the game featured several lead changes and Preston led by two heading into the fourth quarter.
A quick 6-0 run to begin the final quarter, which was spurred by four points from Isaiah Walker and two steals from Holton Justus helped get the Huskies going in the fourth quarter and get the 10-point win. Coach Talby Justus says it is games like this that his team can build team comadre. Walker led the Huskies with 19 points, while Mason Gilkey and Justus each added 10. The win puts Pawhuska in the semifinals on Friday evening where they will face Morrison at 8:30 p.m. The Lady Huskies took care of business by defeating Meeker, 65-23. They will also play Morrison at 7 p.m. Both of those ballgames can be heard on Sportstalk KPGM FM 99.1. Comments are closed.
