 The Pawhuska Police Department is asking for your help in locating two men following an armed robbery Sunday. Peter Ryes and Stevee Von Flash Gordon are wanted for questioning regarding the robbery.

Emergency Management director Jerry Roberts provided his quarterly update at the Monday morning meeting. During which Roberts discussed the May storms in Fairfax, the new radios and repeaters which have been installed around the county, and the transition from Samaritan EMS to Miller EMS in Barnsdall. Roberts also discussed the passage of State question 788 which legalized medicinal marijuana. Robert said that the Association of County commissioners of Oklahoma has made it known that if an organization or local government receives funding from ODOT, They are subject to federal law, not state law. This means that if a County employee fails a drug test, even with a medicinal marijuana license, they are subject to termination. E911 Director Kay Kelly provided the commissioner update Next Generation 911. while next generation 911 is still a few years out, counties across the state of already began preparations for the transition. Part of the new system will be implemented by this time next summer . the ability to text 911 will soon be available in Osage County this will provide those in emergencies and opportunity to send a text to dispatch, and have Emergency Services sent to their location. The Next Step in preparing for Next Generation 911 will be getting GIS to 98% accuracy, but Kelly says that they will be ready for the transition when it happens. The next meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners will be next Monday at the Osage County Courthouse in Pawhuska. This week the meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners was business as usual, the Commissioners approved the transfer funds for payroll, they signed detention service agreements, and received an update from planning and zoning. The most extensive action taken during this week's meeting was the purchase of a new lawn mower. The discussion regarding a new lawn mower has been ongoing for several weeks, and was started regarding maintenance of county-owned property acquired during the resale.
District #3 Commissioner Darren McKinney brought forward several quotes this week however, the majority of the lawnmower quotes or for residential use. Two of the lawn mower quotes were for industrial or commercial use, and those came from Woodland Automotive in Fairfax. The Commissioners discussed the two options at length and then decided to go with a Dixie Chopper Blackhawk mower for a total of $7,015. The new mower will be housed at a central location and transported when needed. The next meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners will be on Monday at 10am at the Osage County Courthouse in Pawhuska.  A Skiatook man was arrested on a warrant after marijuana plants were found on his property. John Carson Jr. stood before a judge at the Washington County Courthouse on Wednesday facing a felonious count of producing marijuana.
According to an affidavit, a woman alerted police of marijuana plants on the property that she and Carson share. Officers located 18 plants near a creek approximately 60 feet from the residence. The location of the plants provided them natural runoff water. The woman and her brother located the plants that day. The woman was made aware of the plants weeks earlier in a text message conversation with Carson. The woman assumed Carson was referring to marijuana plants due to his constant use of marijuana but Carson never specifically said what the plants were. Carson did not give the woman the location of the plants at that time. Several months earlier Carson pointed in the direction of the plants and acknowledged there existence in a conversation with the woman’s brother. Carson posted a $10,000 bond. His next scheduled court appearance is set for August 31. Police arrest two following a high speed chase on Highway 20 from Hominy to Cleveland early Wednesday. They are identified as 37-year-old Amber Nowlin of Pawhuska and 38-year-old Clinton Brown of Wynona. In a post on the department's Facebook page, Hominy Police say the chase ended when Nowlin's Pontiac G6 ran out of gas north of Cleveland on New Prue Road. It started in Hominy at about 1 a.m. after an officer attempted to stop Nowlin for failing to signal and making an illegal turn onto Highway 20. Amber Nowlin was booked on complaints including eluding, DUI and driving without a valid license. Clinton Brown was booked on a public intoxication complaint. Police say both also had outstanding Osage County warrants.
Tourism was the primary topic of discussion at this week's meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners. Executive director for the tourism oversight committee Kelly Bland brought forward several items for approval from the Osage County tourism board.
A lengthy discussion began regarding the purchase of an app for the VisitTheOsage.com website, the app is produced by Visit Widget and is used by state tourism for their travelok.com website. Bland emphasized the ease of using the app, and that travel companies and organizers can create itineraries and pull information directly off of the VisitTheOsage. Com website. Itineraries can also be created by the tourism board, and the app will provide listings of events occurring around Osage County. The start-up cost To utilize the app was $2,250 and a monthly charge of $299 a month. Even with the hefty price tag, the Commissioners agreed that it would be worth a try if it would bring more tourism to Osage County, and approve the app for a one year contract. The Commissioners also approved funding for the 49th annual Kihekah Steh Pow wow, the Alpha Tho Tau Plein Air Tulsa event, and approved for Bland to attend the Wichita Women’s Fair, the Arkansas Home and Outdoor Living Show, and the 2019 American Bus Association Tradeshow. Additionally the Commissioners approved and authorized the Barnsdall school bond. due to the 6 million dollar price tag, the debt had to be approved by the county. The next meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners will be held on Monday at 10am at the Osage County Courthouse in Pawhuska. The Commissioners decided to join the class action lawsuit against the federal government and Treasurer Sally Hulse discussed properties acquired at the resale at this week's meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners.
As a continuation of last week's meeting the Osage County Commissioners discussed and took action to approve and sign a class action opt-in notice form to recover payment-in-lieu-of-taxes for fiscal years 2015, 2016, and 2017 in the case United States Court of federal claims Kane County, Utah v. The United States. Commissioner Darren McKinney was apprehensive last week on whether joining the class action lawsuit would have ramifications. However, following discussion with the District Attorney's office as well as Osage County Treasurer Sally Hulse The Commissioners decided to join the class action lawsuit. Osage County Treasurer Sally Hulse discuss the 43 properties which the county acquired the most recent resale, 6 of which have already received bids. Many of the properties on the new County roll will need cleanup and maintenance, and Hulse discussed with the Commissioners the possibility of purchasing a lawn mower. Currently the county is not equipped to provide simple lawn maintenance, and bids out for the service. The purchase of a lawnmower would reduce the need to go out for bids to maintain county owned properties and lots. The Commissioners decided to go out for bids on a lawn mower for the county, and will discuss the issue in the near future. The next meeting of the Osage County Board of County Commissioners will be held next Monday at the Osage County Courthouse in Pawhuska, at 10 am. Monday was the first meeting of the new fiscal year for the Osage County Board of County Commissioners. During which, the Commissioners signed new contracts, approved Professional Service agreements, and lease agreements. the Commissioners also discussed the possibility of opting in a class action lawsuit against the federal government, and discussed the implications of voters passing of State Question 788.
Following the signing of several new and existing contracts for the fiscal year, the Commissioners discussed the possibility of opting in to a class action lawsuit against the federal government. The lawsuit is Kane County, Utah V. United States, and comes following a Supreme Court decision that the federal government is required to fulfill obligations regarding payments owed to counties across the country after withholding funds due to budgetary reasons. However, District #3 Commissioner Darren McKinney felt the matter should be tabled until next week in order to do more research. McKinney was concerned that action against the federal government rarely comes without ramifications. Finally, Heather Barkley from the Osage County Health Department discuss during citizens input that the local Health departments will have no control, or authority, of issuing or approving medicinal marijuana licenses. The license issuing authority will remain at the state level. The Commissioners also stated, since the County is the recipient of federal funds, drug testing will be performed on all County employees, and if an employee fails a drug test they will be terminated, zero tolerance.
