Bartlesville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram had a drawing Tuesday evening to give four families in need a wonderful Christmas dinner from the Tumbleweeds Steakhouse. The winners were Jodi Barnes, Amanda Emberson, Ray Bradley and Ed Echeveria. General Manager Brian Pritchard says he is glad his staff is able to put this event on.
This was Pritchard's first year to do the drawing, but he hopes tomake it a yearly tradition. Bartlesville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is located at 3250 SE Washington Blvd in Bartlesville. The death of a Wynona man from the night of Nov. 29 continues to be investigated. The FBI was called out to the scene, as it was initially believed that the incident took place on Osage Trust Land. After an investigation by both the Osage Nation and the Department of Interior, it was determined that the shooting took place on non-trust land. As a result, jurisdiction of the investigation has been handed over to the Osage County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Eddie Virden explains.
The FBI says they will continue to assist local law enforcement agencies with the investigation. No arrests have been made and anybody who has information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Osage County Sheriff's Office at 918-287-3131. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting on Thursday to discuss the possibility of replacing the State Highway 123 bridge over the Caney River in Bartlesville.
The meeting will be held at the Bartlesville Community Center, located at 300 SE Adams Blvd. The current bridge was built in 1937 and is considered structurally deficient. To improve the safety, ODOT plans on widening the highway and reconfiguring areas of Cherokee Ave., Delaware Ave and Hensley Blvd. During the meeting, impacts of the project will be discussed and the public will be able to make comment. For those unable to attend the meeting, all project materials will be made available online after the meeting atwww.odot.org/publicmeetings. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 o’ clock in the evening. The Osage County Commissioners met Monday morning at the courthouse in Pawhuska and breezed through the weekly agenda. Ted Smith sat in for District No. 3 Commissioner Darren McKinney.
Incoming County Assessor Ed Quinton Jr. was on hand to talk aboutnew software coming to the assessors office. There was also talk at the meeting in regards to making changes to the second floor of the courtroom. Commissioners Assistant Kandy Jump spoke on the matter. It was decided that they will begin sending out quotes to see how much the modifications might cost. The County Commissioners also decided to accept the offer from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to purchase the Osage County Tourism Gazebo for $25,000. The next regular scheduled County Commissioner Board meeting will be Dec. 31 at 10 o' clock in the morning. A swearing in for elected officials of Osage County will take place Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. on the third floor of the courthouse. The Pawhuska Public Library is giving away children’s books to those who are interested in picking them up. Yvonne Rose, Director of the Pawhuska Public Library, says she is needing to clear space in the youth section and she believes this is a great way to do it.
Rose says the book giveaway couldn’t have happened at a better time of the year. Rose adds that the books are for children of all ages. The Pawhuska Public Library is located at 1801 Lynn Ave. in Pawhuska. If anyone is interested in helping the Osage Language Immersion School, then Osage musician Natalie Brady will perform a benefit concert at Pawhuska’s Constantine Theatre on Dec. 13. Brady appeared on this season’s competition show, “The Voice.”
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds will benefit the Immersion School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The concert is being organized by a group of Immersion School parents as part of an on-going effort to support he school. Brady is a graduate of Tulsa Union High School and currently resides in Nashville. Joni Nash, Executive Director of the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce, was on hand at Tuesday evening's city council meeting in Pawhuska to let the board know what has transpired over the last month and something big that will hopefully be coming to the fairgrounds next year.
Nash was extremely proud of how well the Pawhuska Christmas Parade went over. The Dance Maker Academy of Pawhuska just put on a performance of The Nutcracker this last weekend as well. Nash is hoping to bring the ACRA rodeo to Pawhuska in October. Nash also said Ree Drummond's induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame was a major success, as Drummond said she was glad to see so many familiar faces from Pawhuska. The Pawhuska City Council met for a regular scheduled meeting Tuesday evening and discussed a wide array of issues.
Gabby Concholo of CBEW Professional Group was on hand to to present the city of Pawhuska's audit for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The council decided to approve the 2017-2018 audit. City attorney John Heskett was also on hand to brief the council members about the ever changing rules and regulations regardingmarijuana facilities and sales in the city of Pawhuska. Joni Nash, Executive Director of the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce, gave an economic report and five police officers were sworn in. The City of Bartlesville offices will be closed on Christmas Day, while trash routes and recycling center hours will be changed.
Public Works Director Keith Henry says Sanitation Crews will be working on Christmas Eve and on New Year’s Eve. Therefore, trash pickup on those two days won’t be affected. Henry went on to say the recycling center would close at noon on both of those days. Collection of Tuesday trash will be changed to Wednesday on both weeks. Henry says customers with Tuesday routes will need to put trash out no later than 6 in the morning on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 if they expect their trash to be collected. Police and fire services will continue as scheduled with no interruption. City offices will re-open on Dec. 26. The Skiatook Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is this Friday at 7 o’ clock in the evening. This year’s theme is “Flanel and Frost.”
